Investing in the protection and management of World Heritage sites from growing climate change threats is key. This is a collective responsibility shared by governments, civil society, local communities and indigenous peoples. The pilot Youth Call for Projects focused on world heritage education as a way to fight against the degradation of the natural and world's cultural heritage.
The goal was to promote world heritage education that encourages young people to become involved in heritage conservation on a local, regional and global level. For this project, one master's student was selected to conduct an analysis on how World Heritage could be used as an educational tool. The scope included the Swiss Alps and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
